LTO Ultrium 4 is the fourth linear tape open generation known as lto4 backup tapes. The LTO4 cartridge is a 1/2 inch magnetic data storage cartridge for backup tape drives and libraries. The fourth LTO generation was released in Mid 2007.
The Ultrium4 tape cartridge holds 800GB native capacity, and 1.6TB compressed capacity. The original manufacturers for LTO were Hewlett Packard (HP), Seagate, and IBM.
The standard form-factor for LTO is known as Ultrium. The LTO4 cartridges are known as "LTO Ultrium4 data cartridges." Numerous manufacturers distribute the LTO-4 cartridge including Imation, Sony, HP, Dell, Fuji, Sun, Maxell, Quantum, Tanberg, TDK, and Verbatim.
