Hewlett Packard distributes both labeled and non-labeled lto data cartridges. This accommodates the customers that require barcode labeled storage, and serves as a magnificent organization tool for LTO backup tape technology. The HP LTO tapes are available pre-labeled and initialized, non-labeled, or with labels attached to the LTO product and the customer can implement the labels to their specified desire. Customers should expect a short delay on delivery (1 business day depending on order size) due to label implementation.

HP Ultrium Storage Media Kits allowed users to purchase a portfolio of lto storage media tapes in one easy bundle. They offered twenty LTO-1 Ultrium 100GB/200GB item no. c7971a, LTO-2 Ultrium 200GB/400GB item no. c7972a, LTO-3 Ultrium 400GB/800GB item no. c7973a, LTO-4 Ultrium 800GB/1.6TB item no. c7974a, or LTO-5 Ultrium 1.6TB/3.2TB item no. c7975a along with one single HP LTO Ultrium Universal cleaning cartridge item no. c7978a. Additionally to the lto ultrium backup tapes and cleaner, HP offered twenty colored labels, and a carrying case that helps the IT professional carry the tapes securely and safely to their destination. The HP LTO Ultrium WORM cartidge is a Linear Tape Open (LTO) technology that allows the user to back their data in one single instance. Once that single instance is initiated and completed the LTO data cartridge is no longer writeable. Many government agencies require WORK LTO cartridges due the high security protocols for backup media and its storage.
These LTO data cartridges are for use with HP and non-HP branded systems
The LTO cartridges are colored uniquely to differentiate from other LTO branded backup tape cartridges. Hewlett Packard takes pride in branding their LTO Ultrium product, and is the only manufacturer that offers such vibrantly colored ultrium lto format data cartridges.
The tape cartridge offers the "smart grabber" mechanism and mechanical interlock which prevents the leader pin from going back into the tape cartridge housing. This was one of the key weaknesses to the the DLT (Digital Linear Tape) technology (also available by Hewlett Packard). The lto cartridge has special sensors that detect a proper connection and prevents the leader from doing this which prolongs tape life.
